Evalution Rubric

Program of Study for Science Grade 9 ( Unit C: Environmental Chemistry – Social and Environmental Emphasis )

Outcomes for STS & Knowledge:

1. Investigate and describe, in general terms, the role of different substances in the environment in supporting or harming humans and other living things.

2. Analyze and evaluate mechanisms affecting the distribution of potentially harmful substances within an environment

 

Skill Outcomes:

1. Select appropriate methods and tools for collecting data and information and for solving problems

2. Conduct investigations into the relationships between and among observations, and gather and record qualitative and quantitative data.

3. Identify new questions and problems that arise from what was learned.

4. Communication and Teamwork – Work collaboratively on problems, and use appropriate language and formats to communicate ideas, procedures and results.

 

Attitude Outcomes:

1. Scientific Inquiry – Seek and apply evidence when evaluating alternative approaches to investigations, problems and issues.

2. Collaboration – work collaboratively in carrying out investigations and in generating and evaluating ideas.

1. Students will be working in groups of four or five. The webquest assignment is graded out of 20.

 

2. Students will have one class period to start their webquest assignment and they can work on it outside classroom hours on their own time. The project is due two days after Unit C test.

 

3. They will be evaluated together according to the rubric below. The evaluation will be based on clarity, accuracy and relevance of their arguments.
